Painting in the Style of Katherine Bradford
In this project we will look at some recent paintings by Katherine Bradford, a Brooklyn based artist. She came to prominence late in her career in her seventies with paintings of people in swimming pools using bold, glowing colors and expressive paint. She is now 82 and very much an active artist. The image of one or several people in a swimming pool is a very universal one and we will make our own brightly colored version using paint and collage on paper.

About Joel Adas - I have been teaching painting, drawing, and collage to all ages for 30 years. I grew up in Highland Park, New Jersey but moved to Brooklyn, New York in the mid 1990s. I’ve exhibited my paintings extensively in New York and abroad and throughout my years in Brooklyn continued to teach in schools and community centers. My basic approach is to combine art making with some art history and a sense of where certain ideas and approaches to art come from.
