Nature Journaling: Connecting to Our Sense of Place

John Muir, Rachael Carson, Henry David Thoreau, and Beatrix Potter were all naturalists who kept journals as a way to continue a curiosity about, carry on a conversation with, and document observations of the wildlife and seasonal patterns around them. We’ll be sharing a variety of sketching, painting, and writing techniques, using creative tools, inspiring each other, and making connections to the outdoors...second nature.

No experience necessary. Come and join the fun! Bring a pen and a cracker or cereal box to the first class. We will meet at the Sea Isle City Library. Ages 18 and up.

This is a 6-class series being held Mondays, 6pm-8pm starting November 14th:

• Nov. 28
• Dec. 5
• Dec. 12
• Dec. 19

All registrants are required to attend the first class of a series. If absent, your spot will be given to the next in line on the Waitlist.

For over forty years, Sue Slotterback has been a professional naturalist and environmental education specialist. She has been teaching nature journaling classes and using journals in her programs for the past 25 years. In early 2022, Sue was interviewed by John Muir Laws, author of How to Teach Nature Journaling, and Marley Peifer, host of The Nature Journaling Show, about her “interactive” nature journaling techniques and her “Noticing Nature” classes for seniors.
