Dressler Smith is a nationally acclaimed American artist and author whose unique works on paper and stained glass windows designed for churches touch the human spirit. Her artwork is included in the private collections Oprah Winfrey, former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham, and Coretta Scott King. Dressler is currently coordinator of Adult Programs for the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, PA, and has taught visual art at Camden County College for over 20 years. SUGGESTED SUPPLIES:
-Tracing paper for preliminary drawing of your composition
-White artist tape or painters
-One 9”x12”or 11x14 watercolor pad - Arches 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Pad, or a less expensive Cold Press pad (may use mixed media pad by Canson or Strathmore. 300 lb paper will avoid buckling when soaked
One full sheet can be cut into four parts
I suggest smooth or semi smooth
-Sketch pad
-Board for taping paper onto.
-White STAEDTLER eraser
-Travel Palette (with cover and up to 24 wells)
-Ruler 12"-18"
-Paper towels / rag
-2-3 (reusable yogurt) containers with a cover would be good to have on hand
- #6 or #8 round brush, synthetic sable Watercolor brushes (short handle)
-Filbert 3/4 to 1" brush
-One wash brush 2” wide or more if you like to work large
-A set of watercolor pencils.
-Watercolor paints (see list below)
-Photos that they wish to use for compositions
