Foraging Mushrooms: An Overview of Common Local Varieties

An introduction to local edible mushrooms and the basics of mushroom ID will be discussed. Participants will explore their life cycles and where to look. We will cover the features and details that lead to confident identification and the importance of having positive ID. This is focused on the basics for beginners, but all are welcome.  

Lin Conover, owner of Wood Song Mushrooms, LLC, first began learning about mushrooms through a deep dive into soil health and composting methods. With an appreciation for the integral role fungus has for our living planet, she began the process of identifying wild species and growing cultivated mushrooms. Wood Song Mushrooms now provides fresh mushrooms and related products, in addition to educational programs, nature/foraging walks and hands-on experiences.
