Superhero Rivals Art Class

This event is open to all ages as part of our FandoMania Fest: a series of fandom-related events leading up to Cape Con 2025!

In this class you will explore what makes a character, also tips and tricks to help draw your Superhero or Supervillain. We will practice formula sketching vs eye/reference sketching, talk about character rotations, drawing with energy, and examine popular themes for drawing characters. We will also check reference art from popular storylines as we draw. Participants are welcome to bring portfolios and previous works as well to get a professional critique and some suggestions.

Supplies needed for this class:

• Pencils, Pens, Markers, Paint and Paint Brushes depending on artist weapon of choice.
• Paper or sketchbook
• Creative and Open Mind to Explore art and storytelling

Garland Holloman is a South Jersey Native with over 20 years’ experience as a Multimedia Creator. Having an educational background from Camden County Technical School, specializing in Graphic Design & Print. Sessions at the University of Arts in Philadelphia. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Arts & Animation. Garland is a self-taught and educationally improved Artist from Sicklerville, NJ. Garland holds credits with Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Upper Deck, Vibe Magazine, Copic Markers, and other media outlets. Through the years Garland has used his artistic abilities to do graphic marketing for entertainment companies, win multiple awards, and make an extensive portfolio from using his artistic abilities to be of service to customers, students and others when needing a creative approach to a project.
